If Stands AdBlocker is working perfectly on most websites but failing on a specific few, there are several common reasons. Please follow the checklist below to identify and fix the issue.
1. The Site is on your Whitelist
The most frequent cause is that the website has been accidentally "Allowed" or "Whitelisted."
How to check: Click the Stands icon in your browser toolbar while visiting the site where you see ads.
The Fix: Look for the "Protection is ON/OFF" toggle. If it is set to "OFF," simply toggle it back to ON. The page will refresh, and ads should disappear.
2. Outdated Filter Lists
Advertisers constantly change how they deliver ads to bypass blockers. Stands uses "Filter Lists" (instruction manuals for blocking) that are updated daily.
The Fix:
1. Open the Stands Settings/Dashboard.
2. Go to the Filters or General tab.
3. Click Check for Updates or Update Now.
4. Restart your browser and check the site again.3. "Fair AdBlocker" & Acceptable Ads
Stands believes in a "Fair" web. By default, some non-intrusive ads (that meet strict privacy and size standards) may be allowed to help websites stay in business.
The Fix: If you prefer to block all ads regardless of their type:
1. Open Stands Settings.
2. Find the "Acceptable Ads" or "Search Ads" toggle.
3. Turn this feature OFF to enable strict blocking.4. First-Party or "In-Feed" Ads
Platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch often embed ads directly into their own code, making them harder to distinguish from actual content.
The Fix:
Ensure you are using the latest version of the Stands extension. If ads persist on these specific platforms, it may require a specific script update from our development team.5. Anti-Adblock Scripts
Some websites use "Ad-Reinsertion" technology. When they detect a blocker, they attempt to bypass it or show a simplified version of the ad.
The Fix:
Use the Element Picker tool to manually hide these elements.
1. Click the Stands icon.
2. Select "Block Element."
3. Click on the ad you want to remove.Still seeing ads? Let us know!
If you’ve followed the steps above and a specific ad is still bothering you, please let us know. Websites change their code daily, and your report helps us update our filters for everyone.
